50 Cent Honored With His Own Day At Shreveport, Louisiana After Launching A 956,000 Square Feet G-Unit Film Studio

Congratulations are in order for 50 Cent, who has been honored with his own day in Shreveport, Louisiana after opening his G-Unit Film & TV Studios in the city. The rap and business mogul was also presented with a ceremonial key to the city by Mayor Tom Arceneaux during a ceremony on Thursday (April 18).

Last year, Curtis Jackson took out a 30-year lease on the movie studio as a base of operations for his burgeoning film and TV production company.

This reinvigoration of the studio will have a positive effect on job creation, attracting talent to the area and contributing to the overall economic resurgence of Shreveport. The studio officially opened on Thursday, with Fif posting pictures on IG of the G-Unit branded and revitalized studio.

The 956,000 square feet studio is reportedly the second biggest Black-owned production studio in the world.

“Ladies, gentlemen, Mayor Tom Arceneaux and the wonderful people of Shreveport, it is an honor for me to stand before you here today,” the ‘Power’ executive producer told fans and the crowd at the event.

He continued, “As someone who’s always believed in the transformative power of music, film and television, I’m really excited to show you the expansion of film and television through G-Unit Studios right here in Shreveport.”

Fif also praised the mayor on Instagram, writing: “Mayor Tom Arceneaux really cares about people, I talked to him today I was really impressed with his energy. I usually be like wait a minute, when politicians are involved but I think he is a whole good guy. WTF.”

In the carousel he shared on his page, Fif made sure to take a shot at Diddy, with one of the slides showing a woman holding up a sign saying: “Ratchet City but no Diddy.”
