Lil Nas X’s “MONTERO” Debuts #1 On Billboard
Lil Nas X Celebrates “MONTERO” Debuting No. 1 On Billboard Chart
Lil Nas X made controversial headlines after releasing his new single, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” together with a sexually charged music video, self-directed video with Tanu Muino.
In the visuals, LNX introduces us to the fantasy land of Montero, named after him (Montero Lamar Hill), where he is free to embody his sexuality as he pleases. In a scene, he can be seen giving a gay lap dance to Satan.
Well, Billboard has revealed that Lil Nas X’s “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” has debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, dethroning reigning champ Justin Bieber and his Daniel Caesar/Giveon-assisted “Peaches.”
Although the exact numbers have yet to land, the lofty number-one debut is further testament that Lil Nas X remains a dominant force in the realm of pop music, no longer destined to be defined by the looming shadow of the record-shattering “Old Town Road.”
In celebration, he shared an amusing video on his Twitter page. “Made this video in june 2020 to congratulate my future self. now we here!! NUMBER 1 BABY,” Lil Nas captioned the video.
“I hope my haters are sad. i hope they are crying. i want your tears to fill my grammy cup,” he wrote prior.
