Felix finished the competition with a bronze medal in the women’s 400-meter, giving her 10 track and field Olympic medals; making her the most decorated female Olympic track and field athlete of all time.
She eclipsed Jamaica’s Merlene Ottey for the most medals by any female track athlete in Olympic history. “This one is extra special. This medal means so much,” Felix told NBC after the race. “I knew that I still wanted to go and I had more to give, even though I was told that was it for me…For my last [individual] run, I just wanted to go with it and give myself a shot.”
Felix now joins U.S. wrestler Tamyra Mensah-Stock, U.S gymnast Simone Biles and Sunie Lee who all made history at the 2021 olympics!
