Convicted Sex Trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, To Be Sentenced In June
Ghislaine Maxwell Is Expected To Be Sentenced By The End Of June
Ghislaine Maxwell’s sentence was set on Friday, a month after she was convicted on charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy to recruit teen girls for ex-boyfriend Jeffrey Epstein.
According to Yahoo! News, U.S. District Judge Alison J. Nathan announced that Maxwell will be sentenced on June 28.
Nathan is reportedly waiting to conclude the defense’s claims that a juror who participated in the trial publicly admitted to being sexually abused and used his experience to convince other jurors to convict Maxwell.
Due to the confession, the defense wants a new trial, and Nathan added that she will reschedule a new date as a result of the outcome of the juror’s trial.
A previous motion was already denied by a judge after a defense lawyer requested that she suspend all post-trial suspensions in the case.
Prosecutors also wrote a letter to Nathan stating that the confession should “merit attention by the Court.”
“The Government respectfully submits that any juror investigation should be conducted exclusively under the supervision of the Court,”
