California Man Says His New Tesla Model 3 Froze At A Speed Of 83 MPH On Highway
New Tesla Model 3 Freezes At A Speed Of 83 MPH On Highway, California Man Claims
A California man has concerns after his brand new Tesla Model 3 allegedly froze while he was driving on the freeway.
The vehicle’s owner, Javier Rodriguez, said the incident took place last Thursday while heading westbound on the 10 Freeway near Carbon as reported by ABC 7.
While driving the car, Rodriguez said it suddenly froze and became stuck at a speed of 83 mph. Additionally, the buttons and switches were not working as Rodriguez tried to solve the issue quickly.
“I noticed that it started to get hot in the car and there started to be a weird scent coming. I was nervous that if I were to brake a whole lot I wouldn’t be able to gain the speed again to keep up with traffic and get around cars. I was nervous somebody was going to slam into me.”

Rodriguez said the only part working in the Tesla Model 3 was the breaks but the entire ordeal made him very uncomfortable. Eventually, he was able to get off of the road and the California Highway Patrol escorted him from the freeway.
After taking the vehicle to Tesla, the company reportedly claimed that the car was fixed and said “poor communication from the charge port” caused the vehicle to malfunction. “Diagnosed and found poor communication from charge port door causing power conversion system to shut off in order to protect onboard components during the drive,” the report reads.
“I need more explanation. I’m on the freeway and this happens at 83 miles an hour. Everybody is trying to say, ‘Well we fixed it. We fixed it,’ but I need an explanation.”
According to the outlet, Rodriguez is now worried about a safety feature that can cause the vehicle to shut down completely if it malfunctions KUTV also reported that the Tesla Model 3’s rebooting is a known issue but reportedly doesn’t affect the drivability.
Tesla Model 3 on Autopilot stops itself from what could’ve been a disastrous accident. With Autopilot & Full Self Driving majority of the accidents caused due to human negligence could be avoided. It is imperative that all cars should’ve an advance autopilot. @elonmusk pic.twitter.com/ACFL1Ip8dz
