Lil Uzi Vert Changes His Pronouns To They/Them, Fans React
Fans React To Lil Uzi Vert Updating His Pronouns To They/Them
The hip hop community has come a long way in terms of acceptance of people’s sexuality. The once political genre had no room for diversity and often included homophobic slurs in its lyrics. Homophobia still exists, but it is not as explicit and rampant as it was before.
Cross-dressing – a taboo in the past – has become an acceptable theme popularized by international acts such as Young Thug and Lil Uzi Vert.
Well, Lil Uzi Vert broke the Internet over the weekend after they changed their pronouns on Instagram. Making the big move on the photo-sharing app, Uzi updated his bio by writing their pronouns as “they/them.”

The ‘Eternal Atake’ rapper changed their pronouns merely hours after dropping a single called ‘Space Cadet’ on SoundCloud.
Taking advantage of the Instagram feature that allows people to share their preferred pronouns, Lil Uzi Vert shared the big update with his more than 16 million fans and followers. The renowned rap star is yet to address the change in their pronouns.
“Watch people get upset about Uzi having pronouns”, said one Uzi fan as another posted, “I don’t think you can be a they/them if your one person. But respectfully would not care if I meet a person and their nice. But haven’t met nobody who says that but just I don’t get how you can be more than one person.”
Another user stated, “This younger generation is so feminine.” One added, “This is great but unfortunately some people didn’t make it past 2nd grade and don’t understand pronouns so they’re gonna hate on bro.”
