Issa Rae Denies Rumors She’s Pregnant After Her Mother Believed She Was Pregnant & Didn’t Tell Her

Actress Issa Rae is opening up how her own mother believed internet rumors that she was pregnant.

Issa and her husband got married last year, which came to a surprise to fans due to Issa’s private life. Since the two tied the knot, internet rumors have been swirling that Issa might have a bun in the oven.

Issa said she was going to just ignore the rumors, until her sister sent her a screenshot of her and their mothers’ messages, where Issa’s mom honestly believed Issa was pregnant and didn’t tell her.

“My sister sent me a screenshot of my mom texting her an article like, ‘Did she tell you … Are the rumors true?’ I was like, ‘What?!’” She said in the first-ever TODAY show digital cover.

“[My sister] was like, ‘Not Mom believing in gossip!’ I was like, ‘But she texted you and she didn’t even ask me!’ I’m like, ‘Mom, a pregnancy … you really think that I would hide a grandchild from you? That you’ve been begging for?!’

Issa tweeted back in March, “Let a b*tch eat, drink and be merry!”, to clear up any confusion that she was pregnant. Though she had a strong stance against shutting down the rumor, she says she’s open to expanding her family when the time is right.

“I’m not sure. Maybe if I have a child, I’ll feel like, ‘Everybody needs to see this thing!’ I don’t know!” She said in regards to keeping her future child’s life private.
