Heat Wave In Texas Nears 120 Degrees: ‘Inmates Say They’re Being Cooked Alive’

Last week, the hottest temperatures around Texas ranged from 115 to 119 degrees, which is dangerously close to the state’s record (120 degrees).

According to reports, scorching hot weather in the “Lone Star State” will continue.

“There’s no break,” said Christopher C. Burt, a weather historian with The Weather Comapny.

“Looking at the models, this heat dome over Texas looks like it’s going to be persistent, shifting a little bit to the east or to the west from day to day, but I imagine it’s going to be just blazing for the rest of the month.”

As Texas residents scramble to find ways to withstand the record heatwaves, inmates throughout the state have endured hellacious conditions that many have compared to the feeling of being “cooking alive.”

That’s because 70% of the prison units in Texas are not equipped with air conditioning. This has become a notion that has sparked conversations about whether or not these circumstances are inhumane.

For the inmates of Texas, the concerning part is that the Summer has only just begun. Therefore, many of them have taken action by writing their relatives and human rights groups to advocate for their safety.
