Trinidad James Says Gunna Saved The Summer
Hip-Hop has failed to reach the number one spot in the Billboard singles chart this year, but Trinidad James says that Gunna still came through.
“Please Stop Saying The Summer Was Boring. That’s a Lie you wanna make true. @gunna Saved It for Male Hip Hop. God Don’t Make Mistakes. #DAD,” he captioned a post featuring artwork of the rapper.
After being released from jail, Gunna’ released “Bread & Butter” his first single since he accepted a plea deal in the YSL RICO case. Gunna used the track to deny allegations he snitched on Young Thug.

“You bitch-ass n-ggas got me as the topic of the chat/You switched on me when you know you in business with a rat/ And the boy that’s like your brother, ain’t nobody speak on that,” he raps.
“The city see it clearly if I had to state a fact/You still f-ck with a n-gga that done got yo’ partner/Heard these n-ggas talkin’, only knew ’em ’cause of Slatt/These rap boys need more streams, heard he put my name on wax.”
Gunna initially rose to fame with the mixtape Drip Season 3 in 2018. Later that year, he released the mixtape Drip Harder with Lil Baby, which spawned the single “Drip Too Hard” that reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and eventually achieved Diamond certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
On May 11, 2022, Gunna was arrested two days after alleged co-conspirator Young Thug in a 56-count RICO indictment against the YSL record label. On December 14, 2022, Gunna took a plea deal and was released from prison. Five months following his release, he released his fourth album, A Gift & a Curse (2023). The album contained his first top-ten solo single, “FukUMean”.
