Cardi B Says A Lot Of Artists Said ‘No’ To Featuring On Invasion Of Privacy Or Charging 6 Figures For A Feature

Cardi B added another industry award to her résumé when the native New Yorker won Best Hip Hop at the MTV Video Music Awards on Monday night.

Cardi B later posted a clip of her shaking her butt in a tight snake-print dress.

When you look beyond that distraction, there’s a plaque resting above a fireplace with a list of female MCs – including Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill, Lil’ Kim – and at the bottom of said list, lies the name of Cardi B.

Although it’s hard to make out, the word “grammy” can be seen below it, revealing that this collection of iconic rappers share being Grammy winners in common.

Some hours after, Cardi B took to twitter to defend her Grammy win detailing all the stress and effort she went through in completing her album Invasion Of Privacy’ which won the best rap album at last year’s Grammy Awards.

Cardi B recounted her sickness as a result of her pregnancy and losing her manager. Cardi B also revealed that lots of artists declined working with her on her album while some increased their prices to six figures which wasn’t supposed to be.

However, Invasion of Privacy triumphed at the Grammys over Mac Miller’s Swimming, Pusha T’s Daytona, Travis Scott’s Astroworld, and Nipsey Hussle’s Victory Lap. While some people – such as Pop singer Ariana Grande – seemed to have a problem with the Recording Academy honoring Cardi, Nipsey Hussle celebrated his fellow Atlantic Records artist taking home the golden gramophone.
