Kanye West’s ‘Jesus Is King’ Album First Week Sales
Kanye West’s ‘Jesus Is King’ First Week Sales Are In
Finally, Kanye West’s ‘Jesus Is King’ album first week sales are in. We earlier shared that the album is expected to sell 225-275k copies in the first week at retail with 60-85k of that coming from pure sales.
Well, it seems the projections are right as in terms of pure sales, the new record reached 109,668, while including sales and streaming, it hit 276,224.
Kanye West’s last record, ‘Ye’, made 208,000 in total, with 85,000 being in pure album sales as reported by Nielsen Music.
‘Jesus Is King’ cover art also came with a mystery code. The cover art is a blue vinyl with ‘Jesus Is King’ written at the top, 33RPMLP on the right, and Kanye West at the bottom. On the left, though, it reads, “New Songs AR 1331 A.”
The code was earlier solved by Third Man Records co-founder and Detroit historian, Ben Blackwell. “It’s the Archer Records (AR) pressing plant code assigned to this 1970 Detroit gospel single,” he revealed.
Kanye’s latest body of work is now at sixth in terms of total first-week sales for the year. Above it are Billie Eilish’s WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?, Ariana Grande’s thank u, next, Jonas Brothers’ Happiness Begins, Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding, and at number one, Taylor Swift’s Lover.
With Post Malone’s newest album being the only hip hop project ahead of Kanye, Jesus is King lands second in the hip hop category.
