Big Sean Says There’s No Beef Between Him & Kendrick Lamar

There have been speculations for years that rapper Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar are beefing after 2013 controversial rap song “Control” in which Kendrick called out Sean alongside other rappers.

Big Sean has debunked rumors that they’re having a beef, he put the speculations to rest during his recent appearance on Joe Budden’s “Pull Up” series.

Fans believe that Sean clapped back at Kendrick on “No More Interviews” three years later. On the track, Sean spits, “And I’m just not impressed by you ni*gas rapping fast / Who sound like one big asthma attack, but trash when I’m rapping it back / Who you put in your top five and claim they the saviour of rap / So many friends turn to enemies, they frenemies.”

The alleged beef was fueled when when Kendrick dropped “The Heart Part 4″ in 2017” as hip hop lovers speculated that Lamar took more shots at Sean on the project. But Big Sean claims there’s nothing as such between them.

“One of the people that, especially after Nipsey died was important for me to connect with was Kendrick,” Sean said on Joe Budden’s Pull Up series. “Me and Kendrick got a history…a relationship as peers. When this whole Big Sean, Kendrick beef was going on, it was something I wish I would have spoken up.”

“I remember going online and seeing, ‘Oh, is he talking about Kendrick?’” Sean recalled about the “No More Interviews” lyrics. “Cause I was talking about people who rap fast. I wasn’t beefing with nobody. I was literally addressing a whole f*cking—I’m just rapping, ni*ga. It wasn’t like a specific person or else I would’ve said his name. So I see and I’m like, ‘That’s some bullsh*t.’ So I didn’t give no energy to it.”

He continued, “Fast forward, I let this sh*t go. He let that sh*t go– he never talked about it. And I never talked about it, and I should’ve said something, bro. I should’ve just came out and been like, ‘Naw, that ain’t it.’… But I didn’t. I was working on this song with Nip and then Nip passed.”

“I have a show for J. Cole’s festival. I’m sitting next to Punch from TDE. He like, ‘Bro, wassup– you ever holler at Kendrick?’ I damn near put it on the back burner in my brain. I’m like, ‘Damn, no, I never did. And he’s like, ‘Man, you should definitely holler at him.’ Got his number, and we communicated. The respect is mutual. It was literally nothing.”
