Drake Honors George Floyd With “Affirmation” Poem By Assata Shaukur
The inhumane murder of George Floyd by a White Minneapolis cop has caused debates, protests, and more across the country in order to end racism in the United States. The killer cop Derek Chauvin, has been arrested and charged with 3rd degree murder and manslaughter.
Rappers including Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Ice Cube and more have reacted to the killing of Floyd this week, although Wayne’s remark was quite controversial, which made him received backlash over his comments.
Beyonce and Rihanna have also aired their thoughts on the ongoing issue. Drake is the latest celebrity to react on George Floyd’s death. The Toronto native shared a poem by social activist Assata Shakur.
“I believe in living. I believe in the spectrum of Beta days and Gamma people. I believe in sunshine. In windmills and waterfalls, tricycles and rocking chairs,” the poem titled “Affirmation” reads.
“I have been locked by the lawless. Handcuffed by the haters. Gagged by the greedy. And if i know any thing at all, it’s that a wall is just a wall and nothing more at all. It can be broken down.”
And in the caption, Drake simply wrote : “Rest in heaven George Floyd 🌹” Peep the tribute post below :
