MGK Celebrates Winning MTV VMA For Best Alternative With “Bloody Valentine”
The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards held last night. The prestigious award show aired virtually on Sunday night due to the coronavirus pandemic. With performances from top stars including Lady Gaga, Doja Cat, DaBaby and more. Peep the complete winners list here.
Machine Gun Kelly was among the winners at the event, clinching his very first VMA. The rapper won the best alternative with his hit song “Bloody Valentine”.
Bloody Valentine visuals won against The1975: “If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know)”, All Time Low: “Some Kind Of Disaster”, Finneas: “Let’s Fall in Love for the Night”, Lana Del Rey: “Doin’ Time” and Twenty One Pilots: “Level of Concern”.
The rapper took to Instagram to celebrate his win, sharing pictures of his dapper look at the event and captioned it with an appreciation note.
“Pretty much waited my entire life just to say: WE WON A FUCKING VMA!!!! 🤯🔥🙏🏼 i was flying in to pick up my fathers ashes when i got the news that we were nominated, so it was bittersweet,” he wrote
“Then i found out that it was a fan voted award and from the first day y’all were like “we got this” and you really did it. i’m honored to share this moment with you. thank you. thank you. what the fucking fuck.”
In a follow up post, MGK wrote : “Wish my aunt and my pops was here to see all this. glad i got you tho.” Kelly announced the death of his father in July but, he didn’t disclose the cause.
