Twitter is currently on fire after President Donald Trump declared that he’ll be banning TikTok in America over security concerns. There have been reports about TikTok and it’s connection to other countries as spyware camouflaged as a friendly social media app.

On Friday July 31, Microsoft reportedly held meetings with TikTok owner ByteDance, a Chinese company. Microsoft is said to be interested in purchasing the viral social media app.

However, the outcome of their meeting with ByteDance remains unknown for now. Trump told reporters that he didn’t support the deal, if one has been made. Later on Friday, Trump declared that he would make it his goal to eradicate the app in America.

“As far as TikTok is concerned we’re banning them from the United States,” the President said, adding that the action to remove the app is a “severance.”

Donald Trump didn’t specify under what order he would be making the move, but just that it would be done. “Well, I have that authority. I can do it with an executive order or [something like] that.”

Folks on Twitter and TikTok influencers have since been reacting to the proposed ban. “There are 30+ million people unemployed due to the pandemic but trump is worried about teens bullying him on tik tok,” a Twitter user wrote.

“Trump banning Tik Tok sounds absolutely ridiculous when you realize he is tweeting this out on his phone that was made in China,” another user tweeted. See more reactions below :
