Eminem Shouts Out Kendrick Lamar & Logic On Big Sean’s “Friday Night Cypher”
Eminem References Kendrick Lamar’s 2018 Pulitzer Prize & Logic’s Retirement In Amazing “Friday Night Cypher” Verse
Big Sean‘s new album ‘Detroit 2’ dropped in full at midnight, and it’s since been getting lots of praises. The album remains top trending topic on Twitter with several reactions from fans who have been digesting and breaking down the lyrics, checking out subs as part of the fun.
Of course, shots were fired and the most obvious one is a Future diss. Big Sean is believed to have taken aim at Hendrix on “Why Would I Stop”.
One of the most talked about track off the album is the nineteenth track “Friday Night Cypher,” featuring the combined talents of Eminem, Royce Da 5’9, Sada Baby, Kash Doll, Tee Grizzley, 42 Dugg, Boldy James, Drego, Payroll, and Cash Kidd.
It came as a surprise to Hip Hop fans, seeing Eminem rapping alongside Tee Grizzley, Sada Baby, and Kash Doll over a Helluva beat.
On the cypher, Em who’s known for his amazing wordplay gives an awesome shout out to Kendrick Lamar as he raps “I’m quick on the draw,Yeah, so when I pull it, surprise like Kendrick Lamar..”
“Pull It Surprise” in this context is a wordplay for ‘Pulitzer Prize’ as Kendrick Lamar is only Hip-Hop artist to win the prestigious award for his 2017 album ‘DAMN.’ It’s pretty interesting because in 2018 Eminem jokingly said he’s jealous of Kendrick Lamar winning Pulitzer.
The Detroit legend also shouts out Logic on the same verse off the track. “I don’t think it would be logic to say that I’m retirin’,” Em raps about Logic’s recent retirement from music. Listen to the song below :
