The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals last night, taking home the Larry O’Brien championship trophy and LeBron James was named this year’s MVP.
It was a significant moment, given the times we’re in and the devastating loss of Kobe Bryant earlier this year, during an helicopter crash that also took the life of his daughter and several others.
The championship felt like a win that the Lakers needed this year and its massive fanbase wouldn’t agree less. While many have taken to social media to celebrate the Lakers’ win in the Bubble, Lil Wayne hit the ‘Gram to commemorate yet another championship.
Wayne and Kobe had a great relationship while the baller was alive. Weezy even named the late legend his favorite player of all time, above Lebron James and Michael Jordan.
On Instagram, Wayne shared a photo of himself and Kobe Bryant together holding the Larry O’Brien and pointing at the camera. Regardless of Miami’s loss, Lil Wayne quoted DJ Khaled to celebrate the Lakers taking in the championship.
