Confusion & Panic As “RIP Drake” Trends On Twitter
Social media is the go-to place for information about what’s happening around us. However, there have been lots of misinformation spreading around social media platforms that needs to be curbed.
Last night, Drake happened to be a target of social media hoax as #RIPDrake began to trend on social media.
While there are no ideal reasons for the trend, many were worried about Drake’s condition. In the end, a Twitter user named @0rnis took responsibility saying the hashtag was an inside joke between friends that blew up into something they didn’t foresee.
Yo, I don’t really know what’s going on, but the #RIPDrake thing was a joke between me and a bunch of friends; It wasn’t some giant advertising ploy or 4chan thing. I’m sorry to the people it effected and seeing what this became has tought me to think more before my actions.

Thankfully, the Canadian rapper is doing just fine and this whole saga has been explained. Folks on Twitter have since been reacting to the misinformation.
