T.I Praises Kendrick Lamar, Crowns Him The “Most Successful Revolutionary Rapper Alive”

Kendrick Lamar is arguably one of the best if not the best lyricist of his generation. It’s safe to say he fits into the top 10 rappers of all time and that justifies why fans have been clamoring for a new album.

Hip Hop fans far and near are anticipating the Pulitzer Prize-winning TDE rapper next project and while the wait is on, T.I gave a friendly reminder on Kendrick’s lyrical prowess.

During a recent conversation with Ebro Darden about his 25-song The Message playlist on Apple Music, T.I. spoke about Kendrick Lamar’s impact in rap and around the world. “Present day, I think he’s probably the most successful revolutionary rapper alive,” said Tip about the Compton rapper.

“It’s hard to sell. It’s hard to do good business in the revolutionary category. Artists like KRS-One, even Common, Mos Def, the Roots, usually have to trade commercial success for speaking truth in the revolution.”

He continued, “And Kendrick has been the one who has been able to simultaneously achieve both. And I think that’s extremely special. That’s an art within itself.”

Somewhere else during their discussion, Tip also gave props to Lil Baby, specifically for the release of his high-charting single “The Bigger Picture”.
