The Weeknd Calls Grammys ‘Corrupt’ Following Nominations Snub
The Weeknd Exposes Grammys, Claims He’s Not Invited To Ceremony
The Grammys failed to nominate The Weeknd in any category at the 2021 GRAMMY Awards and it’s been causing uproar amongst fans and fellow artists.
If not for the Grammy snub, 2020 would have been the best year of Weeknd’s musical career following the success of his album ‘After Hours’.
The Weeknd‘s After Hours album is arguably one of his best if not his best project. It’s a beautiful and stunning sonic journey, accompanied by some of the greatest music videos we’ve seen in years.
The singer’s team submitted After Hours for consideration, as well as “Blinding Lights”, “In Your Eyes”, and a few other songs, but none of them passed the Recording Academy’s test of excellence.

Well, Abel Tesfaye has now addressed the snub saying: “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans, and the industry transparency.”
Abel’s post earned a response from the chief of the Recording Academy, who stated that he was genuinely “surprised” that Abel was not nominated at the ceremony.
There are also rumors that the artist was considered for a performance on the GRAMMY stage, as well as at the Super Bowl, but because he chose the latter, he was axed completely from the awards show.
“Collaboratively planning a performance for weeks to not being invited?” The Weeknd continued in another post, suggesting that his decision not to perform at the GRAMMYs costed him all of his noms. “In my opinion zero nominations = you’re not invited!”
