Lil Wayne Pleads Guilty To Recent Gun Charge
Lil Wayne‘s offense from last year recently caught up with him. The veteran rapper’s private jet was searched in December 2019 where police found weapons, ammunition, and more.
Wayne was officially charged last month in relation to the incident and, from the looks of things, he could be facing 10 years in prison.
Wayne’s attorney Howard Srebnick said at the time that he had been “cleared” to leave after the guns, ammo, and drugs were found. However, Lil Wayne was charged with 1 count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.
“Carter is charged with possessing a gold-plated handgun in his luggage on a private plane. There is no allegation that he ever fired it, brandished it, used it or threatened to use it,” Wayne’s attorney said at the time.
“There is no allegation that he is a dangerous person. The charge is that because he was convicted of a felony in the past, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm.”
According to Complex, Wayne officially plead guilty to the charge in a virtual court in Miami. Now, the legendary artist will have to wait for his sentencing, which is officially set to take place on January 28th.
With this charge, he could face up to 10 years in jail although it remains to be seen what his punishment will be.
