Lil Wayne Sold His Masters To Universal Music Group For $100M
Lil Wayne Sold His Music Rights For $100M
Lil Wayne reportedly sold his masters to Universal Music Group for $100M. Prior to the report, he was sued by attorney Ronald Sweeney in a $20 million lawsuit over unpaid commission.
The New Orleans rapper sold the rights to all his music in July for $100M, so he has plenty of money to pay this lawsuit.
Sweeney says Wayne hired him in 2005 to help him negotiate his contract with Birdman’s Cash Money. The matter was eventually settled in 2018 with Sweeney’s help.

According to TMZ, Wayne stiffed Ronald Sweeney out of money he was due after helping Tunechi renegotiate his deal with Cash Money Records. Reportedly, Sweeney was hired back in 2005 and helped sort out the drama between Lil Wayne, Cash Money and the rapper’s Young Money label back in 2018, but he claims he never got all the money he was due.
“Per our settlement agreement, the matter has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of all parties. In terms of the particulars, we’re prohibited legally from saying anything further. I can say that my client is happy.”
“He is his own man, a man that owns his assets, his music and himself. At some point, Wayne will let his fans know what’s going to happen next,” Sweeney said in a statement at the time.
