The Grammys’ Respond To The Weeknd’s Boycott
The Grammys’ Issues Statement On The Weeknd’s Boycott
The Weeknd plans on taking a drastic step after he got snubbed by the Grammys. The singer is planning on boycotting The Grammy’s future awards.
In a new statement provided to the New York Times, he reveals that he will not be submitting his future music for consideration at upcoming ceremonies, effectively ensuring that he’ll never earn another nomination.
“Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys,” The Weeknd vowed in a statement that has since gone viral.

Recording Academy interim CEO Henry Mason Jr. has now responded to the Canadian superstar’s decision. “We’re all disappointed when anyone is upset,” he explains, in a statement shared by the New York Times.
“But I will say that we are constantly evolving. And this year, as in past years, we are going to take a hard look at how to improve our awards process, including the nomination review committees.”
The Grammy Awards are set to air this coming Sunday, March 14, 2021. Despite the many high-profile snubs, one category that has been consistently praised is that of the Best Rap Album, which brought nominations to Royce Da 5’9″, Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist, Jay Electronica, Nas, and D Smoke.
