Twitter Reacts To Black Basketball Coach Hubert Davis, Saying He’s Very Proud To Have A White Wife

Black Basketball Coach Hubert Davis, left many confused when he was asked how if felt to be the first Black head coach at North Carolina.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Davis talked about his plans for the program before randomly explaining how proud he is to have a white wife.

“I’m very proud to be African American. But I’m also very proud that my wife is white. And I’m very proud that my three beautiful, unbelievable kids are a combination of both of us.”

People were shocked and confused as he answered a question that nobody asked.

He later released a better statement: “I love this university,” Davis said in a statement. “I played here, I earned my degree here, I fell in love with my wife here, I got married here, I moved here after I retired from the NBA and I have raised my family here.”

He continued, “I am proud to lead this team, and I can’t wait for all that comes next.”

the more I think about what Hubert Davis said I can’t help but think he wants UNC, its donors and whoever else to know hes Black but not thaaattt kinda Black. for him to mention his wife is white unprovoked is just extremely weird and unnecessary.
