BET Under Fire For Airing Lil Nas X ‘Gay Kiss’ At BET Awards

Lil Nas X has been trending on social media following his controversial kissing scene at the end of his performance at the 2021 BET Awards. This time around, he’s being called out alongside the BET network.

He performed “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” with costumes and set pieces giving the performance an ancient Egyptian theme.

Closing up his performance, Lil Nas X passionately kissed a dancer atop a staircase next to a throne. The kiss was so incredible that the “Old Town Road” rapper received a standing ovation from Pose star Mj Rodriguez and a few others.

Lil Nas X Claps Back At Criticism For Kissing A Male Dancer At The 2021 BET Awards

There have been polarizing takes on the scene, while many have been criticizing Lil Nas X for the act, others like Diddy showered him praises for his courage. However, people are worried because Nas’ fan base consists of mostly children.

He was the first artist – gay or straight – to tongue kiss someone during a performance at the BET Awards. So it was unprecedented on many levels.

Some Twitter users are already blasting BET for airing the kissing scene, accusing the network of pushing the ‘gay agenda’. In fact, fans are saying they may launch a boycott of BET.
