Black TikTok Creators Strike For Being Underpaid & Not Getting Credit
Black TikTokers Go On Strike, Refuse To Dance To Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Thot Sh*t’
TikTok has successfully cemented itself as one of the culture’s favorite social media apps. Over the years, it’s been people’s choice for creating viral dances and artists have also been capitalizing off the trend, releasing songs for TikTok dance.
However, that doesn’t mean that TikTok doesn’t have issues like any other social media platform.
According to Madame Noire, Black TikTok creators have gone on strike and decided to abstain from creating any new TikTok dances due to being underpromoted and not getting credits for creating most of the viral dances.
I fucking love to see it. This should have happened a while ago and Tik Tok needs to start paying its black creators the same way the white ones get verified and paid to copy us.

Black TikTokers are also complaining of being underpaid compared to their white counterparts, who reportedly are making thousands of dollars from performing viral dances that were originally created by Black creators.
Well, the lack of presence from Black creators on TikTok has only been amplified in the wake of the release of Megan Thee Stallion’s latest single “Thot Sh*t.”
Megan’s music has often been the catalyst for some of the biggest trends on TikTok, but with Black TikTok creators sitting this one out, several social media users have noticed the weak dances that their non-Black contemporaries have come up with.
Here are some reactions on Twitter:
