Lil Nas X has set the internet ablaze once again, following his controversial kissing scene at the end of his performance at the 2021 BET Awards.

He performed “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” with costumes and set pieces giving the performance an ancient Egyptian theme.

However, at the end of his performance, Lil Nas X passionately kissed a dancer atop a staircase next to a throne. The kiss was so incredible that the “Old Town Road” rapper received a standing ovation from Pose star Mj Rodriguez and a few others.

The clip of the moment has since been making rounds online, garnering lots of mixed reactions from fans and celebrities.

While many have been criticizing Lil Nas X for the act, others like Diddy showered him praises for his courage.

A Twitter user thought Lil Nas X’s performance disrespected African culture. “DONT USE AFRICAN CULTURE FOR SHITS LIKE THIS!!!!!!! RESPECT OUR ANCESTORS,” the furious user wrote.



In response, Lil Nas X simply reminded him that homosexuality also exist in the African culture. “Y’all really like to pretend homosexuality didn’t exist in african culture,” Nas clapped back.
