California To Mandate Vaccines Or Regular Testing For Teachers
California Gov. Gavin Newsom is going to put a mandate in place that will instruct teachers in every school district to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or have to submit to regular testing.
Per CNN, California would be the first state to make the mandate as other Governors have left the decision up to the school districts.
“We’re getting all our kids safely back in in-person instruction,” Newsom said on Friday. “We want to do it in a safe way where these kids can get that full support.”

The California Teachers Association (CTA) has supported vaccination efforts.
“Nearly 90 percent of CTA members have reported getting the vaccination. We know a growing number of educators and local unions are working with their school districts to develop robust testing and vaccine verification policies. We continue to support those local decisions,” CTA President E. Toby Boyd said on statement Monday.
Children under 12 are not yet eligible for the vaccine.
