Sha’Carri Richardson Confident Against Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce & Elaine Thompson-Herah Ahead of 100m Race
Whew! It’s the confidence for us! Sha’Carri Richardson is ready to bring her A-game to the Prefontaine Classic track and field meet in Eugene, Ore.
Sha’Carri will lineup up against Jamaican speedsters Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Shericka Jackson.
These three ladies were part of the Jamaican clean sweep of the women’s 100m sprint in Tokyo, winning gold, silver, and bronze. This will be Sha’Carri’s first race after her suspension. As we previously reported, she was not allowed to compete at the Tokyo Olympics this year after testing positive for Marijuana in her drug test.
During the conference, Sha’Carri explained how she’s feeling about returning to the track. She said, “I’ve been training, it’s been going well regardless of the situation, I have no complaints,” said Sha’Carri Richardson.
“My talent has not gone anywhere, so I’m just ready to get back on track. I’m coming back with the same energy I left the sport with, and I’m eager to bring even more.”
While speaking about her competitors, she said, “Two Two of the women sitting here (at the press conference – Thompson-Herah and Fraser-Pryce) are two of the fastest women to ever do this sport so I am honored to just to be on the stage with them but I am not starstruck,” said the 21-year-old.
“I am eager to run against them and bring the best out of them and I hope they can get the best out of me.”
Sha’Carri Richardson is set to face off with the girls this Saturday. She is scheduled to compete in the 100m between 4:30 and 6 p.m.
