Taliban Threatens U.S With Consequences If Troops Remain Past August 31

The situation is escalating in Afghanistan, and now the Taliban is reportedly threatening the U.S.

The Taliban say any delay in the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan will have consequences for the United States, and deadline is August 31.

As we reported, President Joe Biden said that his troops could stay in Kabul after that date to evacuate civilians.

“If the US or UK were to seek additional time to continue evacuations — the answer is no. Or there would be consequences,” Taliban rep Suhail Shaheen said to Sky News.

Staying beyond the agreed deadline would be “extending occupation,” he added.

Biden said on Sunday that his administration was looking to extend the deadline for and all evacuated Afghan allies will be given a home in the United States.

“We will welcome these Afghans who have helped us in the war effort over the last 20 years to their new home in the United States of America,”Biden said. “Because that’s who we are. That’s what America is.”
