Jeff Bezos Says He’s “Heartbroken” Over Illinois Amazon Warehouse Collapse
Jeff Bezos has released a statement in light of the deadly tornado that tore through four states over the weekend and said he was “heartbroken” over the deaths of six Amazon employees at an Illinois warehouse.
Bezos released the statement on his official Twitter where he sent his condolences to families and grief over those who lost their lives in Edwardsville.
“The news from Edwardsville is tragic. We’re heartbroken over the loss of our teammates there, and our thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones,” he wrote.
He continued to say,“All of Edwardsville should know that the Amazon team is committed to supporting them and will be by their side through this crisis,” the post continued. “We extend our fullest gratitude to all the incredible first responders who have worked so tirelessly at the site.”
The Amazon CEO and founder released the statement a day after a deadly tornado tore through the state and trapped hundreds of Amazon employees.
Another statement was also released by Amazon spokesperson Richard Roche, “This is a devastating tragedy for our Amazon family and our focus is on supporting our employees and partners.”
As previously reported, the tornado spread among five states where it killed 70 people Friday evening.
