Fan Buys Tom Brady’s “Last” Touchdown Football For $518,628 Then Brady Comes Out Of Retirement

An anonymous fan spent more than half a million dollars for the last football Tom Brady threw in an NFL game before retiring last season.

But now according to sports analyst the ball has now lost much of its significance after the 44-year-old athlete confirmed Sunday that he is returning to professional football.

Saturday at a New Jersey auction the football reportedly sold for $518,628. Of course, the fan thought he would be purchasing a football thrown by one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. But shortly after the auction the auction closed the all-star quarterback announced he will be returning.

“The ball is worth a lot less now,” sports memorabilia expert David Kohler advised CBS MoneyWatch, adding that once Brady throws another touchdown, the ball’s value will be “a fraction of what it was worth.”

“I just hate to be the guy who paid $500,000 for Tom Brady’s last touchdown pass,” CBS Sports host Adam Zucker told CBS News.

Yesterday Tom Brady shared a post to his Instagram account captioning the photo, “These past two months I have realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. Without them none of this is possible.”

He continued. “I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. We have unfinished business. LFG”
