Tyga Sued By Vans Over ‘Wavy Baby’ Sneakers Design
Vans Sues Tyga Over ‘Wavy Baby’ Collab Shoes With MSCHF
Tyga has found himself in another lawsuit, but this time it’s over his “Wavy Baby” sneaker design that collaborated with MSCHF.
Vans is claiming the rapper stole their signature sneaker silhouette. The Tyga-designed skate sneaker made was released on Monday (April 18) priced at $220. Tyga recently took to Twitter to let fans know the shoes sold out in just 10 minutes.
Before the release, a lawsuit was already sent out last week from Vans alleging MSCHF stole components of their classic Old Skool silhouette. The colorways are related but the MSCHF pair uses wavy white lines that match more of a reading of someone’s heartbeat on an EKG scan.

According to Hypebeast, the lawsuit alleges Tyga/MSCHF committed “trademark infringement, false designation of origin, unfair competition and trademark dilution.”
“MSCHF, in collaboration with [Tyga], has shamelessly marketed the Wavy Baby shoe in a direct effort to confuse consumers, unlawfully siphon sales from Vans, and intentionally damage Vans’ valuable intellectual property rights,” the lawsuit allegedly states. “The Wavy Baby shoe blatantly and unmistakably incorporates Vans’ iconic trademarks and trade dress.”
HighSnobiety spoke to MSCHF who argued that Vans was “stabbing” them in the back and wanted half of their earnings from the collab.
“Vans reached out to settle with us proactively,” MSCHF relayed. “Turns out that they were shaking our hand at the same time they were stabbing us in the back.”
