Kendrick Lamar Supports Trans Community In New Song ‘Auntie Diaries’
“My Auntie Is A Man Now We’re Cool With It” – Kendrick Lamar Raps On ‘Auntie Diaries’
Kendrick Lamar is bringing attention to the trans community and offering his support through the telling of his own personal experiences with his family.
In his song, “Auntie Diaries,” Kendrick starts by rapping “My auntie is a man now” … and then, he goes on to talk about his transition. Later in the song, he reveals his cousin is trans as well, rapping, “Demetrius is Mary-Ann now.”
Kendrick even raps about the mistakes he made in elementary school including when he’d use homophobic slurs.
“The day I chose humanity over religion, the family got closer it was all forgiven”

The song has since been trending on social media with people sharing mixed reactions on it. “Auntie Diaries by Kendrick Lamar is a very rare case of a rapper supporting the trans community but there’s ppl who’ll pretend to be angry because he was saying faggot,” someone tweeted.
“I find it crazy that im seeing multiple people unhappy with kendrick lamar using the “f slur” in his song auntie diaries…my question to you is did you even understand the song?? did you listen to the words?? because that sounds like the only word you heard,” another user wrote.
A fan also noted that: “Auntie Diaries is a truly barrier-breaking song in hip-hop. Kendrick Lamar is talking openly about his aunt and cousin transitioning and how he “choose humanity over religion.” He is an ally to the #LGBTQ community it’s sad how people make judgements before listening to the song.”
See some reactions below:
Kendrick Lamar dropped Auntie Diaries, a song about trans acceptance & intersectionality, while conservatives across the country are pushing a full on assault on all LGBTQIA+ people & their allies
He didn’t have to do this – he’ll probably get shit for it – but he did
Powerful.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Auntie Diaries” off #MrMoraleAndTheBigSteppers is an incredible song about trans acceptance & intersectionality but a lot of people are hung up on some of its problematic elements. Here’s a thread attempting to clear up the confusion. 💜🧵 1/x pic.twitter.com/N1UgZFviEV

Kendrick Lamar is loudly supporting the trans community in Auntie Diaries, but we’re gonna have to deal with that group of ppl who’ll be fake angry because he was saying fa**ot
