Bill Bellamy Is Disappointed Family Dispute Prevented Him From Attending His Dad’s Funeral

Comedian Bill Bellamy is in deep mourning after a family dispute prevented him from attending his own father’s funeral. Bellamy’s father-in-law died in May and his biological father died in June, but his family decided to have the funerals on the same weekends against his wishes.

Bellamy exclusively told TMZ that he was heartbroken by the decision. When his father-in-law died on May 17, he and his wife already planned to have the funeral on June 24.

This was planned before his biological father unexpectedly passed away on June 8. His sister, Karen, made the decision to have their father’s funeral on the same day in a different state, despite Bill pleading for her to change the date.

Bill went as far as even attempting to file a restraining order to get the date moved, but unfortunately the courts cannot intervene in family matters on this level.

“In the span of less than a month, I lost both my father, William Bellamy Senior, and my father-in-law, Bernard Baker Junior,” Bellamy said. “These two wonderful men that have impacted my life and my family’s lives in ways that are beyond words. My effort to stop an unauthorized memorial service for my father, which was planned without my knowledge, was not successful. I am devastated my family has to choose to miss one service for another. No one should ever have to be in this position.”

Bellamy says he’s truly disappointed that he will not be able to properly say goodbye to his father because of decisions made out of his control.

“There are no words to express how disappointed I am to not be a part of laying my father to rest, but I look forward to celebrating my father’s life and legacy with my wife, his grandchildren and our close friends in our own time,” he noted. “Please pray for our families and give us the time to grieve and process these painful losses in private.”
