Black-Ish Creator Kenya Barris Files For Divorce From Wife Of 20 Years, Raina Barris
Again, Kenya Barris has filed for divorce from his wife Raina Barris. Kenya Barris, creator of the ABC sitcom “black-ish,” is pulling the plug on his marriage, however this is not the first time he has filed for divorce.
According to TMZ, new legal documents show that Kenya went to a Los Angeles courthouse this month and filed to end his marriage to his wife of over 20 years, Dr. Rania “Rainbow” Barris.
In the docs, Kenya says the couple has been separated since Sept. 9, 2020, and he cites the usual irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the split.

Kenya and Rania have been down this road twice before. She previously filed for divorce back in 2014, but withdrew the request a year later after they reconciled. Kenya filed for divorce in 2019 but later called it off.
Barris filed for divorce in 2019 from Rainbow, who is the inspiration for Tracee Ellis Ross’s character on Black-ish. They later requested to dismiss the filing less than a year after his filing. He filed before that, doing so in 2014 before the couple decided to reconcile and withdrew the request.
He talked about the divorce during an interview on rapper T.I.’s ExpediTIously podcast soon before actively seeking to dismiss it.
“If you look at sitcoms and our stories, we’re supposed to be okay. But 52 percent of marriages don’t work,” he said at the time. “It is the toughest thing I’ve ever been through in my life.”
