Brittney Griner Has Doctor’s Prescription For Cannabis Due To Chronic Injury
Brittney Griner Told Court She Was Prescribed Medical Cannabis In The United States
Last week, Brittney Griner pleaded guilty to drug charges as her trial continued in Russian court. She admitted to bringing cannabis into the country but saying she had packed in a hurry and did not intend to break the law.
“I’d like to plead guilty, your honor. But there was no intent. I didn’t want to break the law,” she said in court.
According to new reports reaching us at Dreddsworld, lawyers defending U.S. basketball player Brittney Griner told a Russian court on Friday she was prescribed medical cannabis in the United States for a chronic injury.

As we previously reported, she pled guilty to drugs charges which carry a prison sentence of up to ten years after she was detained at a Moscow airport in February for carrying vape cartridges with hashish oil.
President Joe Biden has said the United States is doing everything it can to secure her release. Griner’s defense team submitted documents on Friday arguing she “inadvertently” brought the vape cartridges into Russia and had a permit issued in the state of Arizona for the use of medical cannabis. Britney can face up to 10 years in prison if she is convicted.
Brittney is a player for the Phoenix Mercury of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for the Baylor Lady Bears in Waco, Texas.
She is the only NCAA basketball player to both score 2,000 points and block 500 shots. In 2012, the three-time All-American was named the AP Player of the Year and the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
