R. Kelly Still On Suicide Watch Despite Suing Prison
R. Kelly Remains On Suicide Watch
We reported last week that R. Kelly has sued Brooklyn prison for cruel and unusual punishment after they put him on suicide watch against his will. Well, it appears that didn’t change anything.
As it stands, the feds are keeping R. Kelly on suicide watch even after his attorneys called for him to be released to gen pop.
The disgraced singer was sentenced to 30 years in prison for his abuse of underage girls. “MDC-Brooklyn has a policy of punishing high profile inmates by placing them under the harsh conditions of suicide watch even though they are not suicidal,’ one of Kelly’s attorneys told CNN.

Kelly was found guilty on nine counts, including one charge of racketeering and eight counts of violations of the Mann Act.
“The irony of putting someone on suicide watch when they’re not suicidal is it actually causes more harm,” Jennifer Bonjean said.
Bonjean earlier said she was told by prosecutors who spoke with prison officials that Kelly was placed on suicide watch because he is well-known.
“It’s punishment for being high-profile. And it’s horrifying frankly,” she said. “To put someone under suicide watch under those conditions is cruel and unusual when they don’t need it.”
