Tyler The Creator Sparks Transgender Rumors After Calling Himself A ‘Hot Gurl’

Tyler The Creator may be the first mainstream hip hop star to come out as transgender. The rapper posted an image of himself on Twitter – wearing women’s nail polish and referring to himself as a “hot gurl.”

Tyler has been flirting with gender and sexuality issues for the past 5 years. Many have speculated that the rapper – who extremely private – is either gay or bisexual.

There are rumors swirling around that it isn’t just Typer’s sexuality that’s in flux, so may be his gender. This weekend, Tyler decided to get people talking – first the singer showed off his new blue nail polish. Then, the rapper referred to himself as a Hot Gurl.

Some years back, Tyler the Creator made headlines  thanks to lyrics on his album Scum Fuck Flower Boy that appear to reference his sexuality.

“Garden shed for the garçons / Them feelings I was guardin’ / Heavy on my mind / All my friends lost / They couldn’t read the signs,” he raps on the song’s second verse.

But the hints on Flower Boy go beyond that one line. The album’s opener, “Foreword,” addresses the women that Tyler has been with in the past, with him rapping:

“Shout-out to the girls that I lead on / For occasional head and always keeping my bed warm / And trying they hardest to keep my head on straight.” And on “I Ain’t Got Time,” Tyler’s bars seem to be even more transparent: “Next line, I’ll have ’em like whoa / I’ve been kissing white boys since 2004,” he raps.
