Nicole Linton’s Lawyers Argue She Suffers From A Serious Case Of Bipolar Disorder
More information is being released regarding the mental state of Nicole Linton, the driver who caused the fatal car crash that claimed the lives of 6 people, including a pregnant woman and her unborn baby. Her lawyers are claiming she was unconscious at the time of the accident.
In court filings obtained by the Los Angeles Times, Linton reportedly struggled with bipolar disorder for at least four years before the crash.
The documents claim that she suffered from an “apparent lapse of consciousness” at the time of the fatal accident. A few days after the accident, Linton was evaluated by Dr. William Winter at the UCLA Medical Center, where he says she has no memory of the accident whatsoever.

“She has no recollection of the events that led to her collision,” Winter wrote in his notes. “The next thing she recalled was lying on the pavement and seeing that her car was on fire.”
Also in the document, there are other incidents that contributed to Linton’s unstable mental state, including her being involuntarily admitted into a psychiatric ward by her family a few years prior. Linton’s lawyers argue that all of these events prove why she was in an extremely unwell state during the time of the deadly collusion.
“In the days and hours leading up to the events of Aug. 4, Nicole’s behavior became increasingly frightening,” her lawyer says. ,“[Nicole] told her sister that she was flying out to meet her in Houston the next day so she could do her niece’s hair. She also said that she would be getting married and that her sister should meet her at the altar.”
Her lawyers are pushing for Linton to be housed at a mental treatment facility where she can be monitored and treated for her illness. Linton is currently facing 90 years in prison and is being held without bond.
