Kanye West’s Donda Academy Abruptly Calls Off 2022-23 School Year And It’s Not Clear If Parents Will Get $15K Tuition Back
Kanye West has apparently closed his charter school Donda Academy, effective immediately. The students who attended Donda academy are now without school, and left scrambling to find a new place to get an education.
The private school founded by Kanye West is now shutting its doors in Simi Valley Thursday amid the ongoing backlash over the rapper’s recent antisemitic comments.
According to reports, parents are not expected to get a refund of the $15,000 a year tuition they already paid. An email confirming the immediate closure was sent to parents by the school’s principal.

“Donda Academy will close for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year effective immediately … THERE IS NO SCHOOL TOMORROW,” a portion of a screenshot showing the email sent Wednesday read.
An email confirming the immediate closure was sent to parents by the school’s principal, Hollywood Unlocked reported.
According to the email, students were not even allowed to finish the week, never mind the semester or school year. Parents must now work to find another school community for their children mid year. There was no mention of their tuition dollars either.
The email also did not go into detail about why the school was closing but its founder, rapper Kanye West, has been under scrutiny over his antisemitic comments.
