R. Kelly’s Victim Sues Him For Fraud, Wants Ownership Of His Lyrics & Grammy Awards
R. Kelly’s Alleged Victim Wants Ownership Of His Lyrics & Grammy Awards To Compensate Her $4M Owed To Her
R. Kelly’s legal trouble is far from over. According to court documents, one of his alleged victims is suing him for fraud and wants his Grammy awards and rights to his lyrics.
Per the document, the woman alleged that Kelly sexually abused her in 1998 when she was a minor and continued until she was of legal age.
In 2020, the unnamed woman filed a civil suit against the singer with the circuit court of Cook County. R. Kelly was locked up at the time, but was personally served with her complaint and could have had several lawyers file appearances on his behalf.

Despite that, a judge issued a judgement of $4M to the plaintiff on March 10, 2020. Of course, Kelly didn’t have the money just lying around in his bank account. So the woman attempted to take his Grammy awards and the rights to his songs.
However, once collection efforts began, the woman noticed that Kelly sold his composition and lyric rights to his childhood friend Keith Calbert for $5M and gave his Grammy awards to a girlfriend for free.
She is now requesting that a judge allow her rights to Kelly’s lyrics and composition and ownership of his Grammys.
