Velma Is Now A Lesbian In New ‘Scooby-Doo’ Film: “She’s Not Bi, She’s Gay”
According to multiple reports, Velma is officially a lesbian in the new ‘Scooby-Doo’ Film.
Clips from the movie have already gone viral on Twitter. The clips show Velma googly-eyed and speechless when encountering costume designer Coco Diablo.
Tony Cervone, who served as supervising producer on the “Mystery Incorporated” series, have confirmed the character’s sexuality, but they were never able to make it official onscreen.

In 2020, James Gunn tweeted that he “tried” to make Velma a lesbian in the live-action movies. “In 2001 Velma was explicitly gay in my initial script,” he wrote. “But the studio just kept watering it down & watering it down.”
During the 2020 Pride Month, Gunn wrote on Instagram, “I’ve said this before, but Velma in ‘Mystery Incorporated’ is not bi. She’s gay.
Folks online have since been reacting to the new development. “Why do kids need sexual clarifications in a damn cartoon about solving crimes with a dog that talks!? Omg. Call me crazy but I don’t think it’s necessary,” someone commented.
“I’m so tired. I missed when television wasn’t so sexualized. Gay straight Bi all in between is just too much,” another person wrote.
