Ice Spice Reveals She Owns Her Masters: “No One On The Label Side Touches The Music”
The People’s Princess Ice Spice, is dishing gems in her recent Billboard interview to give the Spice Cabinet and her haters something to munch on.
Isis Gaston catapulted to fame in 2022 upon releasing “Munch”, a record her voice allures on and words cut viciously. TikTok went into a frenzy, Drake co-signed it, and the people dubbed her as their newest rap princess.
“I saw all of my supporters being like, ‘She’s the People’s Princess! She’s Princess Diana!’” Ice reminisced. “At first, I was confused. I was like, ‘Um, Princess Diana? Out of everybody?’ But [then] I was like, ‘F–k it, she’s iconic.’”

The foundation was laid early on, contrary to what many may perceive. Her rapper father planted the passion of rap in her, with Wu-Tang, 50 Cent and Jay-Z being part of the soundtrack of her life. Ice Spice detailed that success has always been in her, using the law of attraction and manifestation since she was just 10 years old.
It sure seems to work undoubtedly, with her face donning Beyoncé’s Ivy Park and Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS. She’s achieved partnering with Nicki Minaj’s “Heavy On It” label. She even maintains creative autonomy 10K and Capitol Records.
“No one on the label side touches the music. There is no traditional A&R with her,” Friedman says. “It’s all her. We’re on her schedule.
Our modern Princess Diana projects to release the deluxe version of “Like..?” this summer to give the Munchkins something to fiend on. For the ones claiming there’s no breath control? Ms. Spice reminds them that the athleticism from her volleyball days is not far behind. “I’ve been working out lately, and I’m going to have that breath control down pat, feel me?” she says.
