Father Of Music Icon Selena, Sues Cruise Company For Using Her Name & Image For Tribute Voyages Without Permission

The father of the late bilingual music icon, Selena, is suing a cruise company after claiming it had no right to set sail as a tribute cruise to his daughter and her legacy.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, her father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., says that the cruise company’s offensive behavior has become repetitive.

The boat cruise reportedly takes passengers on a trip across Long Beach Bay as it includes music, food, 2 dance areas and a few bars.

Upon hearing the name of the cruise’s last trip “Cumbia Cruise Homenaje a Selena y La Sonor Dinamita por Maritza y Su Sonora.” (Tribute to Selena), Abraham claims that the use of his daughter’s name on the cruise, has caused substantial confusion.

He claims it has deceived people into thinking that her estate might have approved of the usage while the whole time they never even got permission to do so.

If you recall, Abraham reportedly controls all rights to Selena’s trademarks, name, voice, signature, merch, ads and much more! Meaning that if he feels the cruise wrongfully used his daughters name and image to bring in passengers for money, then he seemingly has every right to do so.

Abraham reportedly wants any money that was made off of his daughter’s name to be reimbursed and is seeking to block all usage of Selena’s name and trademarks.
