Hollywood Studios Reportedly Want The Writers' Strike To Continue Until Union Members Start Losing Their Houses

Hollywood Studios Reportedly Want The Writers’ Strike To Continue Until Union Members Start Losing Their Houses

As we all know, the Writers Strike has been going on for almost 3 months with Hollywood writers refusing to work until they are paid what they believe they’re owed. Though this is a great cause to fight, they might be in for a steep battle ahead.

According to Deadline, multiple sources in Hollywood say that studios are preparing to allow the strike to go on for so long until everyone is broke and begging for their job back.

“I think we’re in for a long strike, and they’re going to let it bleed out,” said one industry veteran intimate with the POV of studio CEOs said to Deadline.

The plan is to reportedly allow the writers to strike as long as they can before they “break”. The sources in Hollywood claim that this has been the plan since the first day of the strike.

One of the main reasons for this is that all of the major networks, including Netflix, Disney and Apple, haven’t taken a big hit on Wall Street. Money is still flowing in so, in their mind, there’s no need to negotiate. They also estimate by October, most people will be broke, so they will have no choice but to work again.

“The endgame is to allow things to drag on until union members start losing their apartments and losing their houses,” a studio executive told Deadline.

Acknowledging the cold-as-ice approach, several other sources reiterated the statement. One insider called it “a cruel but necessary evil.”
