Hoover Police Announce Carlee Russell Could Possible Face Charges For Kidnapping Hoax
Carlee Russell is currently trending on social media, receiving backlash after apologizing and admitting that she lied about being kidnapped.
The 25-year-old from Alabama previously told police she was kidnapped after stopping to help a toddler in diapers who was walking alone on Interstate 459 on the evening of 13 July.
However, Hoover Police Department Chief Nicholas Derzis on Monday said Ms Russell’s attorney, Emory Anthony, had now provided a statement on Monday saying there was no kidnapping.

Hoover Police held a press conference on the new details and it was revealed that Carlee Russell could possibly face charges for kidnapping hoax.
In relation, Eric Guster, a former criminal defense attorney turned personal injury lawyer, believes Carlee Russell should be in jail after information revealed on Wednesday disputed last week’s supposed kidnapping of the Alabama woman.
“She said she was kidnapped, and a kidnapping didn’t happen. Our citizens are safe, there’s not a kidnapper out there,” Guster told WVTM 13. “So they use every other synonym for lie except saying she lied.”
Guster, who is currently the managing partner for the Guster Law Firm in Birmingham, Alabama, says Russell’s “kidnapping” will make it harder for others who go missing, as public trust has gone down for similar cases, especially for certain races.
