Master P Goes Off On Google After Being Mistakenly Identified As Luther Vandross

Last week, Luther Vandross trended online after it was discovered that images of Master P came up in the search for the late singer’s name on Google.

“I know everybody trippin’, and Google thought it was funny, mixing me up…I get it. Stop letting AI run your company,” he told TMZ when asked about the confusion.

“This is the picture…Captain Ace [the mascot for Snoop cereal, a joint venture Master P shares with Snoop Dogg]…I look more like Captain Ace. I just wonder what they would put for Harvey [Levin]. Bruce Willis?” he continued.

The image was brought to people’s attention by Questlove.

The description of the image read, “Luther Ronzoni Vandross Jr. was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. Known for his sweet and soulful vocals, Vandross has sold over 40 million records worldwide.”

“This is why humans aren’t replaceable” The Roots drummer wrote alongside the screenshot. The image had been up for more than a month. Google fixed the error and a spokesperson addressed the mistake.

“We source images for Knowledge Panels from a range of sources, including licensed image providers. In this case, the image we received was unfortunately mislabeled. The provider has updated the image metadata, and our systems now reflect that update,” a Google spokesperson told The Times.
