Superstar Pride Allegedly Shot & Killed His Victim Over Music Video In California

We previously reported on Mississippi rapper Superstar Pride that is charged with first degree murder in Panola County.

Cadarrius Pride, of Batesville, is being held without bond at the Panola County Detention Center in connection with a shooting that killed 40-year-old Marcus Wheatley, according to the sheriff’s office.

Pride, 20, is known as Superstar Pride, whose song “Painting Pictures” made the Billboard top 100 list this year.

The charges stem from a shooting reported about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at a home on Highway 35 North, Maj. Clinton Roberson said in a news release. Investigators found Wheatley dead at the location from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

Investigators gathered information at the scene that pointed to Pride as a suspect.

“During the course of the investigation, Chief Deputy Reginald Lantern was contacted by family members and notified that Pride wanted to surrender,” Roberson said in the release.

Pride turned himself into Lantern Wednesday afternoon and has since been charged with first-degree murder.
