21 Savage Officially Becomes Permanent U.S. Resident & Cleared To Travel Internationally
Our favorite East Atlanta Brit, 21 Savage, is officially a permanent U.S. resident and recently announced he’s returning home to London!
According to AP News, the London native may legally travel outside the U.S. now and plans to make his first international performance in his hometown.
Savage, born as She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, went through serious immigration issues back in 2019 after being detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The 30-year-old rapper spent 10 days in custody at a South Georgia detention center due to his visa expiring in 2006. Joseph, who came to the U.S. at 7, told AP in a 2019 interview that the visa application process is discouraging as it “hangs over your head forever.”
Yet the rapper no longer needs to fret as he’s free to travel wherever and whenever.
Born in London, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia with his mother at age seven. His breakout project, a collaborative EP with record producer Metro Boomin titled Savage Mode (2016), peaked at number 23 on the Billboard 200 and was preceded by three mixtapes.
Its singles, “X” (featuring Future) and “No Heart” reached within the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. Later that year, he would also gain further recognition for his guest appearance on Drake’s single “Sneakin'”. He then signed a recording contract with Epic Records in January 2017.
